On May 1, 2007, I attended the Finger Eleven show at the Kool Haus in Toronto.
There were two opening bands this time around: Inward Eye, and Strata.
Inward eye of Winterpeg, Manitoba, I would classify as pop-punk/rock. They were entertaining. You could tell they were having fun, and the crowd was into it. A far bit of their songs were pretty good and catchy. Their drummer was awesome, too.
Second on the stage was Strata. What a grotesque display that was. A classic case of a decent band musically fronted by a front-man who thinks he's artsy, when in actuality, all he is is really really bad.
Now, don't get me wrong, I've taken plenty of flack in my time for actually enjoying a fair bit of 'emo' music. I like The Used, Taking Back Sunday, etc.
That being said, Strata is way too old to be a shitty emo band.
And last, but certainly not least, Finger 11. Due to some issues, I missed the last half of their show, but it's quite alright, as I've seen them live at least a dozen times. They were excellent, as usual. Scott looks a little weird with hair, but for some reason he looked like he was having a lot more fun up there than he usually did. Not that he didn't seem to enjoy himself before, he just talked more and laughed more this time around. It was fun to watch.
